As many of you already know we have decided to adopt up to 5 children (sibling set) from Costa Rica.
THE UPDATE:
We have been pursuing a sibling set of what we thought was 4 children ages 4 to 11… As we dug into their story we found that it was actually a sibling set of 6 children ages 4 to 16. To make it easier for some children to be adopted governing bodies will sometimes separate older children or large sibling groups. Not sure what the reason was in this specific case but we had some questions.
Our heart throughout the entire adoption process has been for the purpose of keeping siblings together. This situation was no different, we wanted them all! We contacted our social worker and inquired if we could learn their stories and see if the separated siblings wanted to be adopted too.
After a bit of back and forth, it was a surprise to hear that the 14 year old wanted to be adopted but the 16 year old wanted to age out and remain in Costa Rica. Our hearts are now fixed on pursuing these 5 children to become apart of our forever family.
What does this mean for us?
1. We are going to need a bigger car!
